PEVS California launches August 4 in Paso Robles — advanced equine sports medicine, lameness diagnostics, and performance-focused care delivered right to your farm.
Horse owners on the Central Coast have had limited access to specialized equine sports medicine. PEVS is changing that — bringing advanced diagnostics, performance-focused care, and rehabilitation strategies directly to your farm.
Your horse isn't moving right, is short-striding, or just isn't performing the way they should — and you need a vet who knows exactly where to look.
You're buying a horse and need a thorough, unbiased pre-purchase exam before you commit — from a vet with no stake in the sale.
Injections, wellness checks, and follow-up from a vet who knows your horse and shows up reliably — no revolving door of locums.
Dr. Colton provides ambulatory services throughout the Paso Robles area. No haul, no trailer stress, no waiting room — equine care at your farm.
PEVS California will offer ambulatory equine sports medicine services delivered directly to farms throughout the Paso Robles area and surrounding communities.
Co-Owner, PEVS California · Equine Sports Medicine
Dr. Colton Ramstrom served as a veterinarian at PEVS in Ocala, where he became known among clients for his thoroughness and his commitment to follow-through. His transition to lead the California branch reflects a natural next step in the practice's growth and its mission to expand access to high-quality equine care.
"Returning to California and serving the horse community that helped shape my career is incredibly meaningful to me. I'm looking forward to building something here that horse owners can rely on for years to come."
"Our mission has always been to transform patients to reach their peak performance ability throughout their athletic careers."
Dr. Alberto Rullan founded Performance Equine Veterinary Services in 2009 alongside his brother, Dr. William Rullan, with a mission to advance the field of equine sports medicine and help performance horses reach their peak potential. In 2018, Dr. Rullan expanded that vision by founding the Equine Performance Innovative Center (EPIC), a rehabilitation and surgical facility in Ocala specializing in advanced diagnostics, regenerative therapies, and individualized rehabilitation programs.
The practice's long-term mission is to positively impact the lives of one million horses by improving soundness, performance, and longevity through innovative veterinary medicine — and the California expansion is the next chapter of that mission.
We're not just showing up — we're building something. Here's how the PEVS California launch is taking shape.
